Requirements for applicants

 

In order to be considered a candidate to enter the Master's Program in Applied Economics, it`s necessary to meet the following requirements:

  • Be entitled to the degree in Economics or related degrees.
  • Have a minimum average of 8.0 (eight) in the bachelor's degree.
  • Have the following prerequisites:
    • Advanced Economy
    • Advanced Calculation
    • Statistics
    • Econometrics
  • Present results of GRE - (The results will be taken into account with the validity period of one year.)
  • Required score: 152 points in the quantitative part
  • And / or Admission Exam  (exam guide)
  • Fully carry out the admission procedure.

NOTE: Admission will depend on the admissions committee ruling. The master's direction will not give results of the admission process.

Steps to follow to carry out the admission procedure.

 

STEP ONE

STEP TWO

Place: Admissions (Monday to Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:oo p.m)

Consult the accepted list. In the calendar, you can find the date.

 

STEP THREE

Request the table of fees at Caja de Santa Teresa (caja_st@itam.mx), to make the first payment.

The deposit slip on Banamex checking account must be filled out with the following information:

Suc. 870 Account No. 412-1

Reference number: Clave única

Deposit concept: Registration and first payment

Name and signature of the depositor: Full name of the applicant

On behalf of: Autonomous Technological Institute of Mexico

 

STEP FOUR

Place: School Control (Monday to Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.)

When showing the payment, the subjects to be studied will be registered. The calendar indicates the day assigned for this procedure. It´s necessary to submit the requested documents (see section Accepted Documentation)

Accepted Documentation

 

Admitted applicants must submit the following documents on the day of their registration:

GENERAL DOCUMENTS

Mexicans by Birth

  • Original of the birth certificate, issued by the Civil Registry (photocopies registered before a Notary Public aren`t allowed).
  • A photocopy of the birth certificate (additional to the original).
  • Three passport-sized photographs (4.5 x 3.5 cm.) In color, white background, without glasses or cap and taken no earlier than 30 days.
  • CONACYT CVU Registration Key (format is attached).

Mexicans by Naturalization

  • The same documents requested from Mexicans by birth.
  • Certified copy before a Notary Public of the birth certificate or letter of naturalization or adoption of Mexican nationality.
  • A photocopy of the certificate or naturalization letter (additional to the certified copy).

Foreign

  • A photocopy of the documentation issued in your favor by the Ministry of the Interior, which proves your legal stay in Mexico (Migratory Quality).
  • Original of the birth certificate certified by the Mexican Consul and by the Ministry of the Interior. If necessary translated by an authorized expert.
  • A photocopy of the birth certificate (additional to the original).
  • Three passport-sized photographs (4.5 x 3.5 cm.) In color, white background, without glasses or cap and taken no earlier than 30 days.
  • CONACYT CVU Registration Key (format is attached).

 

SCHOOL DOCUMENTS

Professionals graduated from Mexican educational institutions

Professionals with a professional title and ID must submit the following documents:

  • Two photostatic copies of the Title (letter size, black and white, on a single sheet, legible);
  • Two photostatic copies of the Professional Certificate (letter size, black and white, on a single sheet, legible);
  • Original and photocopy of the Official Certificate of Studies of the Degree, legalized by the S.E.P. (not of academic history or simple relation of the courses hat have no official validity).

NOTE: When the Official Certificate of Studies is issued by any state of the Mexican Republic, it must be duly legalized by the government of the corresponding state.

Professionals whose Title and Professional Certificate are in the process of registration and issuance must submit the following documents:

  • A personal letter addressed to the ITAM School Director, committing to deliver to this Institution two copies of the Title and the Professional Certificate respectively, within the first three months upon registration.
  • Certificate of professional exam approval.
  • Original and photocopy of the Official Certificate of studies of the degree, legalized by S.E.P. (not of academic history or simple relation of the courses that have no official validity).
  • Proof issued by the university of origin, specifying the time in which the Title and Certificate will be delivered.

 

Interns whose degree option is through a Master's degree must submit the following documents:

 

  • Original and photostatic copy of the Official Certificate of studies of the degree legalized by the S.E.P. (not of academic history or simple relation of the courses without official validity).
  • Current degree regulation of the university of origin.
  • Letter from the university of origin, specifying that the regulation that is attached is in force, that the percentage of credits is the necessary one and that the interested party is authorized to graduate through this option.

Professionals graduated from foreign institutions

 

  • A photostatic copy of the Title (Diploma), apostilled by the Mexican Embassy or Consulate in your country.
  • Two copies of the Official Certificate of Professional Studies (transcript), duly stamped by the university of origin and apostilled by the Mexican Embassy or Consulate in your country.
  • Téchnical opinion

* You must process it all before the ITAM once it has been admitted.

In all cases where the documents are in any language other than Spanish, the candidate must present the translation of them, by an authorized expert.
